![]() ![]() Maybe you really are reaching below parallel with your squats and Ring just doesn't think it's good enough. When you've started an exercise, sometimes, it may not register correctly. When in a jogging level, you can always point the ring down and press in. Having a big arsenal of exercises will definitely help you progress. You can also choose different exercises based on areas you want to target on your body, or things you find easier if you're having trouble. So don't skip the Battle Gyms and levels off the main path - you'll want to unlock those fit skills! There are actually a lot of exercises available to unlock in Ring Fit Adventure, and changing up your load-out can really help you in battle. Make sure to choose Fit Skills that will let you take on all sorts of enemies and if you're having trouble with a stage, try changing out your set skills to give you a greater advantage. This gives you an idea of the enemies you're about to face. Before a you start a stage, it may recommend you have a particular colour of Fit Skill set. Once you get to a high enough level and have unlocked enough Fit Skills and Exercises, you'll need to start being picky about which ones you take into battle. On the other hand, if you take more than a week off from Ring Fit (or exercising in general), consider lowering the difficulty by a point or two when you return and go from there, especially if you weren't already active before Ring Fit. This will maximize your real life fitness gains! Your goal is to make it feel like the difficulty is similar, even though the difficulty is going up. Speaking of working up, if at first it felt difficult but you've been playing consistently, consider bumping up the difficulty by a point or two each week. One of us were set at 22 after the "fit test" in the beginning, for example, but felt more comfortable scaling down to 18 and working up from there. ![]() If you're struggling to get through a level, consider lowering the difficulty. The menu you get to by pressing B is also where you can change your difficulty. You can also view a summary of your exercises. You can do all sorts of things in here like change worlds and settings. Use the Menu to Check Your Stats and Change Settingsįrom the map screens, press B on your Ring-Con Joy-Con to open the menu. You can also choose to do all Fit Skills to completion in the menu to avoid stopping before both sides get their share. Where possible, try to swap your starting side if you feel this happening to get a more even workout. In the case of killing monsters prematurely, this can mean you overwork one side while the other is neglected. Sometimes in Ring Fit you'll have Exercises and Fit Skills that have you swap sides midway but they always seem to start with the left side. ![]() It's the same sort of bracing technique that should be used when deadlifting, for example. A good cue for this is to breathe out and brace your abs as you do this. You shouldn't just be sucking in - your abs should be pushing on the ring. Make sure to bend your knees slightly like in the picture, and brace your core (tighten your muscles) as if you're about to be punched. If you don't see a big shield pop up like this one, you might need to push in a bit harder.Īs Ring says, the Ab Guard is meant to be felt in your abs. If you think you're taking too much damage when an enemy attacks, you might not be pushing in hard enough during your ab guards. ![]() Not only is this good for leveling yourself up but you can also see how far you've come - often these older levels are probably easier than you remember them when you first gave yourself a shot. If things are proving a little difficult go back and do some previous levels. If you don't think your exercises and Fit Skills are working properly in battle, hit the 'plus' button to get some help on checking you're set up correctly. Try Ring Pushing or pulling at various items you see throughout the stage, like animals, sign posts, or anything to see what you can get. It's a silly easter egg but pushing air or trying to vacuum up random things in levels can give you extra coins or even hearts. In this game, trying to cheat on these things is ultimately only cheating yourself. The added bonus is this game is all about helping you get fit and by putting effort in and trying to properly do the routines, you'll also see the payoff in your own body. Don't worry if, for example, Ring is telling you "Lower!" during a squat, that's just the basic instruction for the exercise, not a comment on your form. You'll know you're going deep enough into the exercise by the flames that erupt around the body part you're working out and your head. You'll probably notice you do extra damage for keeping good form and going deeper into activities like squats. This seems like a no brainer but putting effort into the exercises in battle modes really pays off. ![]()
